The Decision Maker Pipeline™
Your talking head filming guide.
For clients running paid META ads with The Growth Bully.
How This Works
You're part of our Decision Maker Pipeline™ — our done-for-you paid META ad system built to put qualified consultations on your calendar every week.
Write the scripts. Every line is engineered to stop the scroll and book the call.
Film the footage. 20–30 minutes on your phone, following this guide.
Edit, package, and run the ads. You never touch Ads Manager.
That means the only thing standing between you and a full calendar is you, your iPhone, and the 30 minutes it takes to film.
Read it once. Film it once. Send it over.
What You Need
Three things. That's it.
- Your iPhone — any model from the last 4 years.
- A clip-on microphone — RØDE SmartLav+, DJI Mic Mini, or any lavalier under £100.
- A window — yes, a window.
No studio. No ring light. No videographer. No excuses.
Your entire kit.
Step 1 — The Setup (5 minutes)
Your Phone
- Clean the lens. Wipe it with your shirt. 90% of bad footage starts here.
- Use the back camera. It's sharper than the front.
- Film vertical (9:16). Meta is a vertical platform. Portrait — not landscape.
- Settings → Camera → Record Video → 4K at 30fps.
- Turn on the grid. Settings → Camera → Grid (ON).
- Airplane mode ON. No calls, no notifications, no interruptions.
- Mount it at eye level. A stack of books, a tripod, a shelf. Never below the chin.
Your Microphone
- Clip it to your shirt — roughly a hand's width below your chin.
- Hide the cable down your shirt so it's not on camera.
- Test it. Record 10 seconds. Play back with headphones. Crisp and close = go.
Mic placement: a hand's width below the chin, cable tucked inside shirt.
Your Lighting
Face the window. Don't sit with your back to it.
Window → Face → Phone
Silhouette = unusable footage
- Film between 10am and 3pm for the softest, most consistent light.
- Cloudy day? Even better. Clouds = giant free softbox.
- Avoid direct sunlight on your face — it makes you squint and creates harsh shadows.
- Turn off yellow or fluorescent overhead lights — they fight the daylight and wreck the colour.
Step 2 — The Frame (2 minutes)
Rule-of-thirds framing: eyes upper third, chin lower third.
- Head and shoulders in frame. Chin near the lower third. Eyes near the upper third.
- A little space above your head — not forehead-to-edge.
- Background clean and on-brand. Studio wall, bookshelf, project render, tidy office corner. Not a messy kitchen. Not your bed.
- Nothing growing out of your head — no lamp, plant, or picture frame directly behind you.
Step 3 — The Delivery (20 minutes)
We send you the script. Your job:
- Read it 3 times out loud before filming. Get the rhythm.
- Look straight into the lens — not the screen. The lens is your customer's eyes.
- Speak 10% slower and 20% louder than feels natural. Trust us.
- Smile before you start. It warms up your face, even on serious lines.
- Mess up? Keep rolling. Pause for 2 seconds, restart the sentence. We'll cut it.
- Three full takes per script. Gives our editors options.
Don't read robotically. Speak like you're explaining it to one client across a desk. Because you are.
Step 4 — The Send-Off
- Upload raw files to the Google Drive folder we share with you.
- Don't edit, trim, or compress anything. Send the full originals.
- Label files by script number — e.g.
Script-01-Take-1.mov - Tell us the filming date so we can match it to the campaign calendar.
We take it from there. First ad cuts land in your inbox within 5 working days.
The Scroll-Stop Checklist
Before you hit record, run this:

- Eye level, grid on
- Airplane mode
- Mic clipped, cable hidden, audio tested
- Window in front of you
- Background tidy
- Script read 3 times
- Water nearby
- 30 quiet minutes on the calendar
The Golden Rules
Good audio beats good video every single time.
Natural light beats expensive lights every single time.
A real person beats a polished performance every single time.
We're not making a film. We're making an ad that books £50K projects. Energy, clarity, and honesty out-perform production value every time.
